Valerie Adams

Valerie Adam is a famous New Zealand shot putter. She won many gold medals too. She has broke many gold medals too.

Valerie Kasanita Adam was born on 1984 in Rotarua, New Zealand. Her mum Lilika Ngauamo is Tongan and her father Sydney Adam is English. Sadly her mother died when she was 15. Her mother inspired her to be the person she is today. She was a shy child.                                             



Her first coach was Kirsten Hellier, she was a well know javelin thrower. Her second  coach was Bidder Poppe. In 2010 her third coach is Jean Pierre Egger and she has done very well with Jean Pierre Egger.


Valerie Adam went to the world youth championships in 2001, with a throw of 16.87 m. Then she went into the 2002 by becoming world junior championships with the throw of 17.73 m and won a silver medal. At the commonwealth games with the throw 17.45 m. She Finished fifth at the 2003 world championships at the age of eighteen. At Valerie Adams first Olympic games in 2004 she finished in eighth place. In all of her success she has won 12 gold medals, 5 silver and 1 bronze.

Valerie Adams has broken many world records and is still making New Zealand proud and hopefully she brings home a gold medal.
